n the future, yeah I don't know what to say... I just wanted to use the daily drop cap from http://dailydropcap.com . I freaking hate advertising after today and I definitely don't want to be an art director. Graphic design it is for me! So now I have to work really really really hard in packaging to prove that's the direction I need to take. I hope I can do it! I'm taking on "bipolarity" for my "fluctuating" package... I still need to design the pattern which is what I'm doing now... I just had to check the daily drop cap :) It's time to work now!I don't know how I feel about that white border around it. And it definitely looks better on a white background. Oh well. I'll keep that in mind.

Montana
So this is what I spent the last half of my summer on... It looks kind of wonky in the photograph. I had to take the photo pretty quickly (I was late getting on the road back to Denton) and I couldn't really tell if it was fuzzy or not... and there's a glare from the ceiling fan. And all those lines that look curved... they're really not. Oh well. Just imagine it... better. And that's how it is in real life. I promise.
HouIM poster
So I was recently asked to design the poster and some flyers for the 3rd annual Houston Inline Marathon. First freelance job ever! :) Here are 3 of my ideations I worked on tonight while watching Sunshine Cleaning. I know the illustration needs some tweaking (i.e. the wheels on the skates aren't perfect, and I think there needs to be some black accent to make it pop). So yeah... the first two are pretty much how I came to the third. I still need to add some type as well but it should fall in line pretty easily with what I've got going on right now.

Also, I need to tweak the colors! I don't think the oranges feel right together... :-/

I just found this and it made me smile
This is from the USSR pavilion at the 1958 World's Fair. It almost makes me want go back in time to the height of the Cold War and see the weird mix of palm and pine trees.http://grainedit.com/2009/02/23/1958-ussr-pavilion-brochure/#more-1624
Amazing idea
"B-cycle is the zero-hassle, zero-emissions way to get around town. It's a bike sharing program that meets the transportation, health, and environmental needs of our communities. One that adapts to any size city, corporation or campus. It's wind in your hair, air in your lungs and bugs in your teeth. It's free and spontaneous but also organized and practical.B-cycle is the only "next"-generation bike-share program. Integrated data tracking will automatically capture information such as your distance traveled, equivalent calories burned and carbon offset after each ride. It will then upload this data to your personal user profile on Bcycle.com. B-cycle is the future of bike sharing, and it's available to your city now." (Quoting the wise Christapher off vent)

This is so me
The tense-afraid type
"The tense-afraid type of procrastinator usually feels overwhelmed with pressure, unrealistic about time, uncertain about goals and many other negative feelings. Feeling that they lack the ability or focus to successfully complete their work, they tell themselves that they need to unwind and relax, that it's better to take it easy for the afternoon, for example, and start afresh in the morning. They usually have grandiose plans that aren't realistic. Their 'relaxing' is often temporary and ineffective, and leads to even more stress as time runs out, deadlines approachand the person feels increasingly guilty and apprehensive. This behavior becomes a cycle of failure and delay, as plans and goals are put off, penciled into the following day or week in the diary again and again. It can also have a debilitating effect on their personal lives and
relationships. Since they are uncertain about their goals, they often feel awkward with people who appear confident and goal-oriented, which can lead to depression. Tense-afraid procrastinators often withdraw from social life, avoiding contact even with close friends."

So, it's been a while...
There's a lot to catch up on...First: my poster from Typography. I wish there were a lot of things different about it. I don't even know what I got on it... most likely a B because I got a B in the class and it was %50 percent of my grade. And I already had a B. So yeah. Here it is.

Here she is... I made a few tiny edits, mostly to the headline. It was bright bright orange and, when printed, sank back into the green and kind of vibrated painfully. Taking what I've learned from color theory, I used a higher value red to make it pop from the low chroma green...

There it is! I am super, uber excited about the conference!
More updates soon, hopefully tomorrow
